Hi all. This is my first post on this blog as an author. I hope to make many more but for now, I’ll just tell people what they can expect from me. You can expect the truth or at least some funny lies. In this blog, I’m going to share with you my journey as a writer, the ups and downs, the triumphs and setbacks. I’m going to share with you my advice. Things in my arrogance I feel I’ve done right and things I’ve definitely done wrong.
If you are an aspiring writer, either for books or for creating fantasy worlds for whatever reason then I hope you’ll follow this blog and find it helpful. If you’re just bored and want to laugh at my pain, you’re welcome too. I’m not proud, I’ll take all the readers I can get.
I’m going to leave you with a single piece of advice, a small thing to try and get you started. The best and most important thing you can do when setting out on your journey to creating something it to start with an idea or a question. Don’t believe me? Don’t think it sounds useful? Well I stole that advice from Stephen King, and here are some examples:
Question: What if vampires invaded a small New England town?
Answer: Salem’s Lot, a fantastic book by Stephen King
Idea: Imagine if you could make magic from colour
Result: The Black Prism (read that too, excellent stuff)
Idea: What if you abused the rules of a fantasy world or the way magic worked
Result: Chain Meat (this is the free version of the story, give it a read!)
